By: headcore Subject: php programming style i've already mentioned this before, but now, with pear, this whole thing gets a new direction (for me). i think one of the greates problems is, that php newbies don't have good tutorials for good coding style (i'm coding php for about a half year, and my code is starting to get better in the last few month - and i have coded in some other languages before). the existing tutorials are only simple hacks which show how to do db-access or counters; not bigger, more complex projects who need to be structured. i invested a lot of time searching for a good tutorial in good coding style - found nearly nothing. i'm glad there is a guidine now, how you can do it, how you should do it. most of the beginners start coding php with nearly no advice and produce a lot of crap for a long time (first year or so). they have no clue about project planning, documentation, error handling and modularity (because i doesn't has to be to get the hack running). pear is a good idea and should become popular and a must-be for beginners. there are some ide's which force you to document a bit (like msvc++), so i think it's true that this ide-created code has a higher standard. it's possible to do the same with php (handcoded), but it's harder. |
