Subject: RE: Not very smart, not!

I think this is a great idea and one could easily make a page caching script that will only reparse the data every X amount of time, while all the other times, just loads the cached version... I have done this on one of my small little personal web pages so that my server, in its limited bandwidth and cpu power does not have to reparse the pages and do mysql queries every time somoene views those pages. instead it checks the time and if x amount of time has passed it will parse the page on-the-fly for that person viewing the page but then overwrite the cache...

if your website is not being updated every hour and just once or twice a day I feel that this approach is very valid becasue who will know but you the coder that the page somone is viewing is a cached copy because the page will be exactly the same, will it not?

PS this script I speak of was originally written by Ashben of www.ashben.net for the "newsfeed mod". I have made some changes.

the script SHOULD be able to work by merely "wraping" it around your php code.
I belive that anyone reading this is fully capable of figuring out how to do the changes needed for their site so I won't get into any detail about that.

a basic version of this script's source can be found here:
http://67.80.121.68:8000/newlayout/php/cachemaster.phps

Hope this helps
-Andrew
