There has also been a benchmark speed test of each of the DB abstraction layers. PHPLIB was shown to be a little faster. I dont want to get into any religious wars debating the two. These are just two solutions that are available, there is also PHPClasses which is a hugh repository of different types of PHP classes. Again another thing to investigate before choosing any one solution. I like the theory behind PEAR, trying to create something like CPAN for PHP. But I feel that it has left it a little too late and its community isn't as accepting of what is already out there as it should be. |
