By: Dave Subject: mapping to raster images I was delighted with the first part of this but slightly disappointed with part 2 as I don't want to use GIS type information. As mentioned GIs is a complex area and I would love to use 'pretty' raster maps. I'm looking forward to part 3 as you suggest you may look at making an interactive version. As an idea: how about slicing a larger raster image into a grid of smaller squares and loading a subset as required to enable panning. Only new segments would have to be downloaded and the marginal segments could even be be pre loaded in the background? I would love detail also on how to plot from user clicks and how to store and retrive multiple 'plots' in Mysql. All the best and thanks |
