By: Shu Chow Profile Subject: RE: Using remote Apache/MySQL server You'll definitely need Java on your client machine. Apache/PHP and MySQL running locally was merely a common setup used as an example. You can definitley run them remotely. Running MySQL remotely will affect how you setup the JDBC driver in the QuantumDB. There's a spot that asks you to name the ip address of the db. For remote dbs, add the remote address. For local dbs, use localhost. Running Apache/PHP remotely is not an issue, either. You'll just need to setup the URL in the preferences for the Browser Preview to use that machine. Also, if you're using the debugger, your debugging profile will have to be set to do remote bugging on an actual remote machine. The docs basically set you up to to remote debugging, but the "remote" machine is really a local instance. |
