hi all
After a week of contribution here I cleverly figured that most questions are the same 20 questions repeated over and over. wouldn't it be nice to actually group them (or the relevent question/answer posts) in a FAQ forum so peeps could have a look at it BEFORE posting any new question? Not that I don't like to copy/paste answers BUT some newbies don't get answers when they come 5th asking same question in a 3 days period...

Sound like a good idea, but I dont fancy been the one that shifts through all the post for the past 3 years (or something).
You know what they say.... better late than never.

Yeh, but you'll still get people asking stupid questions which are a variation on the theme..!!!
But, Yes... Good idea...

IMO a FAQ can be used by that really annoying type of poster who uses the "HAVE YOU READ THE FAQ" default response to any new poster.
Just because they are new to the list/group doesn't mean they are completely green. Although to completely contradict myself, dumbass questions that have not been though thru, e.g.
My app don't work, why?
can be really annoying too, how about posting guidelines + FAQ?
Before this week, I'd not posted to this forum for well over a year or so, so I cannot give input as to content I'm afraid

I think a FAQ would be useful in complement to the manual and all it's (often but then maybe not) relevant user feedback.
When a guy asks hey how do I connect to a mysql database, do you help him (knowing too well that you could be spending 2 hours explaining it?) or do you tell him to read the doc and then if he encounters a problem to come in here and ask dem gurus?
My answer is to link the doc item on the php.net site. No more no less (for now).
