Good sir, I am planning to install Linux on my pc in the coming few weeks. I would like to know roughly how much space will be taken on Linux installation since I only have about 1.1 Gig on my extended D drive. Thank you very much

Very Basic Setup...

/boot = 100 mb
swap = 2 X RAM
/ = the rest.

Thats it.

Well, it depends which version of Linux you want to install. Some take up more room than others. Which distro are you wanting to move to?

I bought the 3cd-Linux Red Hat 7.3 full retail version. Is there any quick reference regarding all the linux commands other than the online maunal on redhat.com itself? 10Q very much.

Yes, there is. :) It is by no means complete but it is a very nice reference. Try here: http://www.onlamp.com/linux/cmd/

Good old O'Reilly. :)

You do understand that RedHat is free right? I have Full versions for downloading them if you would like them. I also have RedHat verion 8 that just came out today.

Also, if your looking for instructions to commands, use the man command. i.e.

man grep

That will show you how to use grep and everything you need to know about the grep command.
