Hello;

I am hoping I can get some people to comment in and help me with this situation.

I have designed an "all" PHP site for a client. The site is an electronic version of a news magazine. The magazine required me to develop a site that is 95% percent automated. Meaning that I have an extensive Control Panel section that is used to update the site.

The site uses MySQL to store all articles and the only files that get uploaded are the image files. There are 12 issues every year, and I have to basically scan pictures and update the site using “.doc” format articles every month. Scanning pictures (about 100+ on average) takes about 2-3 hours. Inputting the articles to the site takes about another 5-6 hours. And even more if the article has pictures, because then I have to design the page in Dreamweaver and input the HTML source code into the web site’s control panel that sends the source code to the database.

I charged about $600 CND for this site. And another $45 CND per month (for each issue) I have seen the amount of money companies charge to make sites on the internet. Some of them charge $250 bucks US to do ONE page with a graphic or two.

My appeal to anyone out there who can help is to help me determine what amount of money this site would have cost my client if a “Professional” registered company did it.

I just want to gauge the “worth” of this site. I’m willing to share the source code so you can look it over.

Not knowing all of the info, from what you have said I wouldn't have even looked at it for < $2,500

As for maintaining the site, why are you doing it?
If you wrote such an extensive backend, why can't they do it?

Honestly, they couldn't afford my hourly rate to keep their site current.

Thank you, I was thinking about the same figure.

The reason I have to maintain the site is because my clients are not very familiar with HTML or advanced work in Photoshop so I agreed to do it.

Well Im planning to convert the site into a NewsPaper Manager script in the future.
