Ok, I've been having a problem now for quite a while. I hope someone can answer it..

I installed MySQL on my Windows 98 computer so it would work with my Apache server. I know how to install it and everything. When I go to start up MySQL, I double click winmysqladmin to start it up. I then shutoff winmysladmin and leave the server running. I turn my server off using CRTL + ALT + DELETE sometimes. When I go to double click winmysqladmin again to turn on my server, it just sits there, no buttons on it function, and it doesn't load the server, nor does winmysqladmin go to the system tray. I usually have to unistall/reinstall to get it to work again. What am I doing wrong? Is there a certain way to turn MySQL on?

If you don't understand, please reply back.

Thanks

MySQL runs as a service, you shouldn't have to run WinMySQLAdmin to start it up.

I don't know if you can run it as a service on 98, though.

Windows 98 doesn;t have services so you must use winmysqladmin.exe However, once you start it, you should click hide me from the first page, and it will minimize to system tray. If you close it, you will experience exactly what it is doing ;)

Upgrade to XP.. trust me ;)
