Yet again I'm fulfilling my contractual obligation to provide a BS non-PHP topic for discussion. This stems from a conversation I had earlier in which I was called "weird" because I can find 4 leaf clovers very easily. I find them all the time- at least 3-4 a week- more if I actually look hard. This isn't that weird is it? And if it is I guess that would be my weird talent - they say everyone has one. So... what's yours?

My weird talent, well maybe not weird and don't know if it is odd or not, but I can remember phone numbers, cc numbers, social security numbers and numbers of that sort if i just look at them once or twice, hell I remember every locker number and combination for the lock, for every locker i ever had in junior high, and high school, i can also remember phone numbers of people that i can barely remember what they look like, sometimes brains are wasted, aren't they, LOL :)

Stolzy, that isn't too weird it's kind of like Rainman. You might want to look into changing your screenname. Gotta watch Wapner.

Yeah, it may be like Rainman, but he was autistic, and I'm pretty sure I'm not, so who knows, maybe I'm a closet autistic person.

I sleepwalk.
In bed.
I didn't know I did it until the mother of my children told me "wow, that was really great last night." I looked at her with a blank stare on my face. It took me about 30 minutes to convince her I couldn't remember a thing.

Oh, and I can tie cherry stems in my mouth quite easily.

And I make the best salsa I've ever tasted, and apparently a lot of associates who's tasted it agree.

And, I'm a joy for customer service reps. Seriously, I've had them stay on the line for an extra 5 or 10 minutes just to chat when we're done.

But can you fold an origami crane in your mouth from the wrapper. I guess not, I know what I'd be doing for a living if I could do that :p

Im positive im not the only person in world. But anyway when i was at school. Which i hated. If i had something due or didnt want to go id be able to make myself sick, and make it prolong it until i wanted to be better.

Mind you i made myself extremely sick doing this so it has side effects that can be nasty.

My other hidden talent

I have a built in alarm clock. Seriously, I can tell myself to wake up at 7:20am or whatever, and do it. It has to be at least 5 hours or so after I go to sleep to work, but i've done it all my life.

hehe i used to be like that.. No matter what time i went to bed id wake up at 6am...

Then i changed it around when i had to wake up really early hmm 4 30am that early.. so im not able to do it anymore.

My wierd talent is my ability to think of wierd and wonderful new innovations, improvements, etc. I'm able to think of the really really obvious, which is harder than it sounds - like a cat flap(no one would think of putting a door into a door because they already have a door and why would THEY need a new door? Oh wait, my cat might...). This is offset by my complete lack of will to actually do anytthing, so I could be rich if I could actually start my ideas - but thats not gonna happen.

I apparently have the uncanny ability to get a really awesome parking space in large parking lots (mall, grocery store, etc...), regardless of day/time. It's really just luck or chance, but I usually end up with an awesome spot maybe 90-95% of the time.

Eating a packet of dry roasted peanuts in one go.
Making a mean okonomiyaki.
Cycling from Brixton to Waterloo in London in less than 15 minutes in rush hour.
Creating mess.

How far is it from Brixton to Waterloo?

I ride in peak hour traffic... the funny thing about it is. I probably get home before most. Depending on the wheather though of course

About 3-4 miles. It doesn't sound so far but with the traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, roundabouts, taxis, buses and other general mayhem it was a bit of a slog.
I tried it here in Tokyo for a while - 18km ride in about an hour but the drivers aren't so used to people cycling on the road here - everyone's on the pavement doing 10mph! Bah! I nearly got totalled three times in the first month. On the trains now. There's only the smell of sake seeping through salarymen's pores the morning after.
Another feat, not mine but worthy of mention, is the grand combover. It started an inch from where his hair stopped growing at the back and finally stopped about an inch from his eyebrows. Respect!

My weird talent is the amazing ability to be unable to name any talent I could possess, and be completely indifferent about it. :)

dartcol, we both know that cyclists stop for nothing, including traffic lights and pedestrian crossings!

you know the arms at the side of a pair of glasses? that go from the frame to over the ears? this guy i was at school with could put that up his nose. ALL THE WAY. the whole kinda six inch arm, up to the glass. and we once watched him headbutt a wall for 25 minutes without falling.

and another guy at school - while revising for maths a-level (which i failed) - recounted to us the first 206 decimal places of pi. We checked every one. Freak.

me, i just wind my housemates up by leaving all the mugs/pint glasses in our house on the desk in my room until they go mouldy. It really winds them up.

How do you discover that hidden talent, anyway? One day you're sitting there watching tv and you think to yourself, "hmm.. wonder if these glasses would fit up my nose..." and sure enough...

Or the stunt of getting a mouthfull of liquid nitrogen and blowing some seriously mean clouds. (Both are a consequence of a phenomenon known as the Liedenfrost effect - the bane of steam locomotive drivers and guardian of firewalkers.)

I drank a glass of hydrochloric acid once (I forget the concentration, but I was subequently voted "student most likely to dissolve" by the rest of the class). You know that sensation you get when you put the terminals of a 9-volt battery to your tongue (and don't say you've never tried that)? Imagine that sensation liquefied.

Isn't that the same effect that makes it possible to walk across really hot coals, while just regular old hot coals will burn your feet? Basically the kinetic energy of the steam particles is so great they can't act as much of a heat conductor, and they produce a high pressure layer between your feet and the coals for you to walk on.

I was dared once to drink a whole jar of salsa, which I did... and I got a free lunch for it. Hardly hydrochloric acid.

Unless you have an asbestos tongue, it wasn't MY salsa. I have a gf on the western slope who's husband is a genetic freak of some kind. He eats the hottest food I've ever seen. He uses Dave's Insanity sauce like salsa. To him, my salsa is just a little bit warm.

But to all other folks (i.e. mere mortals) it's usually quite hot. but it's also really good. So it sets up a kind of hobbesian choice scenario that's rather more fun to watch than partake in.

I wonder if I can squeeze a bottle of salsa into an email...?

And here was I thinking odorous flatulence was a normality amongst healthy mammals. Or is that just the beans and healthy supply of ale.
