What browser are you using/wanting to use? I'm not at my computer at the moment, but I think that lynx might work from the console. I'll have to check that when I get home though.

lynx is an old console web browser. Often typing the name of the browser at the command line will execute it. I think there are newer and more functional ones available now though.

ok, I've just been using lynx. The command at the console is indeed "lynx" (without quotes). This would be a good one to start with. It's very simple to use (as long as you follow the instructions on screen). Beware though, it's not pretty. I'm sure there is another one that's fairly common that displays the web pages much better, but I can't remember the name. Lynx will get you started anyway. It's quite surprising how many site still work well in text mode.
