ok, here's my opinion: Echo Lounge posts have been on the decline for the past few days. im on every day, and lately there have been at most four active threads whenever i'm on. when i first joined (in april) the page was almost full of them (5 old ones at the bottom). im just wondering, has anyone else noticed this? i don't expect an answer for a couple hours though because -- guess what -- there's only ONE other user browsing right now. :eek::rolleyes:

Yes, and work has been unusually swamped lately, or else I'd be sticking around more.

Also picked up a second job which keeps me busy 3 evenings a week... so my EL time has severely diminished :(

But I'll still be around, keeping all the posts consistently off-topic and posting meaningless and trivial threads, don't you worry :)

At first when I signed up, I created a new thread and lots of people started replying to it; I got 10 replies in one day, now I get none in a day...

Elizabeth

I'm sure the evil beaver of death has many enemies, mostly of the fellow woodland creature variety, so he probably has a right to be paranoid. ;)

Moonglobe
08-04-2003, 06:54 PM
but the EBoD would never do that! and yes he does have reason to be paranoid...... he was almost eaten alive by a large gang of squirrels at one point in his furry life.

EEYAAAIIII!! Pesky ferrets!

Advisory Note: No animals were actually hurt during this post although a few got a little scared and hid behind the fold down sofa.

This, taken from an official-like beaver information site.

"The beaver was made for the water. Its large, chunky body, dense waterproof fur, and subcutaneous layer of fat minimize heat loss to icy water. A transparent eyelid protects the eyes, and the ear and nose openings can be closed while the animal is underwater. Adaptations of the respiratory and circulatory systems increase their efficiency. Large, webbed feet and powerful hind legs further enhance its underwater abilities."(3)
Yes, that conjures up many scary images.. on many levels.

Year 2059:

Evil beavers rule the world, humans are slaves to them, bringing them fish and berries. Humans construct beaver dam palaces. Humans are left to sleep on stinging nettles, while beavers sleep in their dry dams. The beavers make us gnaw their trees down. Our teeth wear away. Once our teeth are broken, we are banished to the northern lands and die.

Merve: "MOONGLOBE I'M GONNA GET YOU FOR THIS!"

Moonglobe: "I shouldn't have incited this. King Beaver, please have mercy. I never got around to making a Standards Compliant Forum. You never let me. Have mercy! At least spare my computer. Stop playing Barbie games on it!"

Moonglobe

OFF of course ;) we're talking about 4.3.2 here.

dalecosp
08-22-2003, 04:40 PM
4.3.2? You're 4 versions behind ... ;)

Oh, well, I'm only on RC2 ....

Merve
08-26-2003, 11:44 AM
Take function feed($food) out of the code and then you won't have to open the cage ever.

Moonglobe
08-26-2003, 02:08 PM
actually, i'm only 0.0.1 stable releases behind (4.3.3 just released). IF you're talking about v5b1, i dont go for beta yet. and besides, im pissed about namespaces being taken out :mad: o well, it was probably for the best :(

dalecosp
08-27-2003, 09:48 AM
Heh, I was nitpicking. :D

4.3.3-RC1 = 1 version
4.3.3-RC2 = 1 version
4.3.3-RC3 = 1 version
4.3.3 = 1 version

change this:if ($beaverHunger==TRUE) {

}
print "The beaver has been fed".$postersFood[$whoToEat].".";
to this:if ($beaverHunger==TRUE) {
print "The beaver has been fed".$postersFood[$whoToEat].".";

} and it will work ;)

Such redundancy.....

You could make the code cleaner and smaller by taking out the ==TRUE. :)

if ($beaverHunger==TRUE) {
// implementation
}

becomes:

if ($beaverHunger) {
// implementation
}

:) :) mmmm nitpicking.

There are degrees of hunger, you know...if ($beaverHunger && !$beaverFamished) {
print "The beaver has been fed".$postersFood[$whoToEat].".";
unset($postersFood[$whoToEat]);
}
elseif ($beaverFamished) {
unset($postersFood);
echo "I can't believe he ate the *whole* thing!";
}BTW, who's variable convention is this? Looks a bit like Javascript... :p

I don't mean to blame anyone or shift the blame off me, but I saw a code drawmack made with those type of variables and I decided for no reason to use them...must've gotten mixed up with ASP because I know drawmack wouldn't normally do that.
Oh well, it's not like they don't work...
