apache not working =(

I installed apache from this website's tutorial http://internetmaster.com/installtutorial/config_apache.htm

but when I try and start it up, the dos window never goes away

in the error log appears the following

[Thu Jul 24 20:34:10 2003] [notice] Child 4012: Child process is running
[Thu Jul 24 20:34:10 2003] [notice] Child 4012: Acquired the start mutex.
[Thu Jul 24 20:34:10 2003] [notice] Child 4012: Starting 250 worker threads.

but it never seems to finish starting - under the apache monitor it lists no services as running - any ideas folks?

Install Apache2 from this tutorial

or download a package of Apache2, PHP, MySQL, Perl, SSL all setup from the main page.

As far as what you have listed, those are not errors. Something else is wrong.

okay I have installed the brebuilt thing - and now I have a new problem - I got the success page and all then when I changed the documentRoot I get 403 forbidden errors!

any ideas?

solved - problem was in the conf file
