Testing Server setup???

I have recently built a mail form page for my website (as a .php), and i'm trying to find out if it will work. When i try to view my page in a browser, Dreamweaver MX tells me that i need to define my testing server. I do not know how to do this and i'm also not sure about what info is required for the 'Remote Info' section. I presume that whatever i'm trying to isn't working because when i then try to preview my page in a browser window I get an error 404 message. As you may be able to tell by now, i am a bit of a web building novice. I have also downloaded Apache which i believe is a web server, but i have no idea how to get it work or function with my site. Please can someone help me out here? (and don't assume that i have any kind of previous knowledge/experience with web building)

this is where you goto google, u heard of google? its an internet search engine. a very good one.
you enter int he search box stuff you want to find, like how to setup an apache web server and stuff like that and it will be your best friend.
