If you guys wanna play i'll be SilentDeath on gamespy Moonglobe 09-27-2003, 11:25 PM hehe im SO buyin this! looks like a graeat game an i love the demo!:D SilentDeath 09-28-2003, 12:26 AM bout it today one word for this game..OWNAGE Jeb. 09-28-2003, 09:36 AM I loved the first Homeworld and I'd love to try the second...I've yet to get my hands on a demo though....*sigh*. Hell, I might just be persuaded to put XP back on for it. Merve 09-28-2003, 11:57 AM can't wait till the day comes you can run games on Linux...then I'll make the migration for sure (stuck in a Windows trap I am, having to deal with people who use Windows *sigh*) LordShryku 09-28-2003, 02:44 PM We're gettin there... (http://www.transgaming.com/showthread.php?news=74) Merve 09-28-2003, 07:43 PM You can show me all the links you want to to open-source-game sites, but it won't convince me. Linux is not a gaming platform. It's great for the office, but not exactly great for the desktop...I'm not dissing Linux...I'm telling the facts. If you're not a gamer, Linux is great. If you have games, you'll sadly have to kiss Linux goodbye. These games might actually be good, you never know, but I still don't think that Linux games are in the same league as Windows games. //Must get new better computer... If you think I'm an idiot, go ahead, but what is above (not the comment, dork!) is the sad truth. DAMN WINDOWS! LordShryku 09-28-2003, 08:39 PM Stong words from the Roller Coaster Tycoon guy(which could be played on a damn Commodore) Merve 09-28-2003, 08:42 PM I haven't put that CD in my E:/ drive in months. I think it's collecting dust. No wait, it's in the CD case :D I meant modern games, not crappy ones like RollerCoaster Tycoon or Worms 2. LordShryku 09-28-2003, 08:43 PM Uhm.....you admitted to not being able to play any modern games because of your computer.... So....why are you making this arguement? Couldn't agree more. Linux is (and most likely always will be) a "geek's" OS. It is for the programmers, the tweakers, the sysadmins and those of us who love our XTerms a little too much. I won't go into depth about what I think sucks about Linux...'cause I'll never shut up :) Needless to say there needs to be a revolution to bring open source to the home user. SilentDeath 09-28-2003, 11:33 PM this went from homeworld to linux games.. LordShryku 09-28-2003, 11:47 PM Originally posted by Jeb. Couldn't agree more. Well, I ain't disagreeing. ON almost all my systems I keep a dual boot of Windows and Linux. Though I spend most of my time in Linux, if I do want to play games, I boot up Windows. But I blame that more on the game manufaturers than the OS. The manufacturers make games for play on Windows, not Linux. I also need Windows for my work's VPN and Exchange Mail(don't wanna pay for Evolution's connector), but that's all off topic :) Moonglobe 09-29-2003, 01:17 AM i personally have only one computer, running a dual boot of Windows XP Professional and Slackware 9.0..... problem is im a toatl newb and slackware doesn't like my in-built NIC so i can't go online from there :( o well i'll find a way one of these days....till then, im stuck in windows. LordShryku 09-29-2003, 01:26 AM Well Moonglobe, I always tell nix newbies to get their start on Red Hat. Might wanna try that.....it has good support for most hardware too.... Moonglobe 09-29-2003, 01:31 AM well im not a total newb......... hell i got apache php mysql and pgsql all working from source before i upgraded to my new mobo...........and im sure im doing something wrong. That's probably because the Windows multimedia system totally defeats most things Linux has. I can't think of anything open source that comes close to DirectX 9. Except that Transgaming stuff...that's impressive. I suppose the other reason is simply that the manufacturers know that not enough people use Linux to warrant developing for it. Dammit, if only my C/C++ skills were better...I can think of so many things I would tweak. P.S: Sorry Silent...I think we kinda hijacked your topic a bit...:o Merve 09-29-2003, 07:13 PM I heard Homeworld was a great game. If I got a better comp, I would get Homeworld2...in the meanwhile I'll satisfy myself with Homeworld. LordShryku 09-29-2003, 07:14 PM Went and bought Homeworld 2 at lunch. Hope this is as good as you guys say. BTW... 17 hours left for Halo to release :D LordShryku 09-30-2003, 03:27 PM Who bought Halo at lunch? ME!!!!! :D :D :D Moonglobe 09-30-2003, 09:28 PM :( can't buy it till i get my new monitor in a couple of days :( SilentDeath 09-30-2003, 10:15 PM Originally posted by Jeb.
