No one told me to delete it, I decided to. It jsut wasn't sitting right with some people, so instead of having people offended, I just got rid of it.

That's the point... to make people aware of how hard it is to help people when they don't give you enough information to help you, or even try suggestions when you give them...

I'm afraid his deletion was in response to a post I made. I stated that I thought that some of the rants were a little over the top, and that perhaps we should be a little easier on some of the noobs... we were all noobs at one time :)

I guess I may have come across a little stronger than I intended, so Lordy decided to nuke the thread. Anyone that thinks I am opinionated can take a flying leap, as far as I'm concerned. I don't need any flak from such lusers! I am NOT opinionated! :p

Anyway... we have a new thread now, so all you whiners still have a place to go :-D

I hate it when mods delete threads instead of closing them. Deleting a thread leaves users, including the original poster, wondering what happened the thread and often prompts similar threads. Whereas closing a thread allows the mod to make a statement of closure explaining why the thread was closed and leaves no one guessing and the similar vein threads do not pop up again. Think about it do you delete job posting threads?

LordShryku
10-09-2003, 10:53 PM
Job postings aren't allowed

hehehehehehehe

Just for clarification, and so no blame falls upon anyone it shouldn't. I deleted that thread

I was using mods in a very generic sense of the word to mean anyone who has that power at any message board anywhere on the internet.

hmmm... i guess the only time i have fully deleted a thread is when we get spammed in every forum from the same person posting something totally obvious. deleting the forum makes sense, cuz the person is gonna get banned anyway

that is the only time i delete a thread... otherwise i just edit it or get another mod to edit it

So that's what was wrong with the script:

// Fixed by JS thanks to Stolzy
// $sql = "DELETE FROM thread WHERE threadid='$delid'";
$sql = "DELETE FROM forum WHERE forumid='$delid'";

We called it Pacman!

dalecosp

We called it Pacman! Well, it didn't work ... it's been almost 6 years since that one, and the Net's still here .... :confused:

However, which ever one of you wrote this one:The client component connects to the server component via an IP address and a specified TCP, FTP and HTTP port number. Similar to the features of the old client component versions, this backdoor malware uploads and downloads files, traceroutes, controlls Winamp, displays a fake input box, fake blue screen, and retrieves cached passwords. It also logs keystrokes, uninstalls software, clicks/controls the desktop, uses a real ftp, sends keys to any window, uses CGI notification, redirects app, captures screen continuesly, creates batch files, eats up memory, deletes dialups, deletes net tools, downloads files from the net, displays a pacman eating desktop, and uses the CGI viewer in client. was a busy guy, indeed!

:D :D
