my pc has been messing up for about 3 months now, its got loads of junk and a malicious script that multiplys a large file loads until I have only 300mb out of 40 gigs left (Norton Antivirus is broken aswell, it crapped up by pc so it wouldnt start, and i had to uninstall it). To put it simply, my computer is totally bust.

so I decided to get a new PC. And i need money to do that. There isn't much chance of my parants funding it, and I only just turned 13 last Thursday and I live in a small village so I can't get a proper job.

But one thing that I am looking for is a job on the internet, something to do with PC's. I have designed numerous websites before and (obviosly) can program in PHP. What I'm asking is: is there a kind of un-official IT job I can get on the net where I don't need to submit my age and stuff? I might be able to start taking the new PC idea seriously if I had a bit of money on my hands...

any help would be much appreiciated!

if you can get an adult to be the frontman using their name for you then you can open up a web dev company that's completely internet based so the people never meet you

yeah I thought about that, but I can't see my dad (definetely not my mum) agreeing to it. But do I have to? I mean, I could stick up a site and have say, payable cheques to me in the post, or something like that. I'd just have to try and hide what i'm doing so I don't get in loads of trouble.

You can get a free scan of your computer here (http://us.mcafee.com/root/login.asp?ErrCode=PLEASE_LOGIN) ;)

And 13? My family only got our first computer when I was that age, and you already know PHP? Lucky kids these days! :)

LOL, i got a Commodore Vic 20 when I was around 7 years old.

I can't remember the exact specs, but it had something like 7K or HD space, and 512 bytes of RAM. When you wrote programs, they had to be stored on a cassette tape.

It usually took around 5000 lines to write a game like snake, and the program language had no rhyme or reason(so it seemed to me then), cuz it seemed like someone just created the language on the fly or something. Sparatic number and letters, not fancy logic blocks, but I do remember there were goto commands, so it musta been some form of basic.

This computer came out in 81.

Well, that's the thing - if anyone did find out then, if the laws in your country are anything like the laws in mine, your parents will be criminally liable. (I'm assuming that 13 is too young to be owning a company, signing contracts, trying to avoid paying income tax, etc.)

LOL guess ours was a little faster than that.

not to mention the cartridges you could put in the unit itself...

Hey Stolzy, did ya ever hook onto those bulletin boards running back then? It was pretty cool watching someone actually type from their own computer...

(we too had the ol' cassette tape action! :) ) I actually found a handwritten program my brother had written in BASIC about that era (1981-ish) that would predict who I was going to marry... unfortunately it was comprised of guys from my fifth grade class- it was WAY off :D

... ok back to the topic of child labor laws...

I have to wholeheartedly agree with Weed. Dude, it would NOT be a good thing to try and "scam" the government just for some money to buy a computer. I dont think it would be a good thing to have that following you around for the rest of your life. And besides - you have your WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE to work.. you will be working for about 50 YEARS, why rush it? Why not enjoy being young? If you want to buy something big like a PC, why not do some odd jobs around the house or your neighborhood or something... sure it will take you a while, but at least it will be legal.

My advice: go to the movies, play some X-box, sleep in on Saturday, enjoy life.

No need to buy a new PC. Just format it and load the OS again. all will be fine.
and take care that in future you do not visit pr0n sites, which generally leave such kind of messy softwares on your PC.

Yeah I would suggest just mowing lawns or mooching or something. Man you have about 3 years before you are going to have to start working, and then it doesn't end for 50 or so. Definitely just wipe your HD and reinstall your OS. Work sucks, don't try to start early.

That depends really. You may get into a job that you love pay is great and the worlds at your mercy. Then of course you could be in a dud job working insane hours and getting paid minimal wages.

I dunno at 13 I was working full time as a dishwasher. By 17 I held the title of chef. By 19 I was getting 3 & 4 star reviews on kitchens I ran. By 21 I was tired of restaurants and went to college to begin my second career as a computer programmer. Maybe I missed out on a lot by working so much but how many people have had two careers by their mid twenties?

What's Handball? I'm british, but i have heard of most americam games.

yeah, what i'm talking about. Web development, maybe some coding. I love doing stuff like that.

And 13? My family only got our first computer when I was that age, and you already know PHP? Lucky kids these days!

I've had a PC since I was 2, but that's cos my dad uses them loads.

and I know PHP now because, well, I'm in top-set maths and science (and everything else, apart from spanish, which i'm in second, and theres 8 sets for each subject) , and I am the only one in my year folowing a A-level ICT course when that is for 17-18 year olds.

I am very bright for my age, basicly. (but i dont want to sound like I'm bragging)

No need to buy a new PC. Just format it and load the OS again

I might try doing that.
