What search engine do you use? I personally use Kart00 and Google, sometimes Metacrawler.

I think I should be more specific. I use Google for quick searches. I use Kart00 for research. I use Metacrawler when I want to zone in on a specific topic, and I use AltaVista for complicated searches.

You know what though? Ever since Google announced that it was "improving" its searching methods, I have noticed that sometimes it will not strictly match the words you give it, even if they are in quotes. It seems like it was more powerful before they changed it. Has anyone else noticed this?

Damn, that was pretty much the sole reason I liked to use Google exclusively (other than no ads, no bs crap on their site). It used to get such perfect results, and now it is pretty much as bad as Altavista (don't know if they have changed it since the last time I used it...2 years ago or something).

Use kart00; it's got cool maps and is really cool if you use their expert version.

AltaVista has changed a lot! Their search engine is good now, and compares with Google. I like it and I use it quite often.

I also like Metacrawler because it includes topics as a whole (as Google used to do).

I hate Ask Jeeves. It is the worst search engine on the net. It is a piece of crap.

AskJeeves? That crap is still around? It can't even be considered a search engine. More like an advertising engine lol.

Garret Gruener (gg4g.com)

roflmao! That's fresh!

The kids version of Ask Jeeves actually has an ad with a baby's bare butt. There are four-year-olds looking at this stuff, they should really not have that one on.

Besides; it's a piece of [ahem].

I use google for normal searches, alltheweb sometimes for normal searches too, and alltheweb for image searches. Tho a promising(IMO) search engine that is still much smaller than either of those(which have 3.3(google) and 3.1(alltheweb) billion pages) is http://www.gigablast.com/ (only has 202 million pages so far) I like its real time spidering feature! :)

Alright... I have to mention it, because in my eyes it is a form of a search engine:

http://www.pricewatch.com/

For a guy who posts a thread about not bumping....you sure bump a lot...

Merve

Read my post carefully...it says something about interesting discussion topics...besides, I wasn't the one who bumped it off the second the page and onto the first. I'm just replying to the discussion.

I have heard that pricewatch was good for that kind of stuff. They have vacations, autos, computers, etc...it's still a search engine, just with a limited scope, products!

Ah yeah, pricewatch is real good for computer parts. I built my last computer almost completely off of pricewatch
