Try this game and see how well you do... (http://www.pbs.org/nerds/game.html)
I didn't do as well as I'd hoped, but I imagine a guru like Weed will get 100% right on the first try. :)

Hehe I have known that one for a while. A few of my IRC friends live in the UK so I know some of the more ambiguous slang.

I ran into some weird ones on my first trip to the US of A many years ago, e.g. 'fanny', which is totally inocuous in the States and completely off-limits in the UK (I don't think I need to explain the difference). I also discovered that the word 'wanker' doesn't mean much in the USA. I tried it on a particularly irritating American citizen who had been trying my patience for some time. I may as well have called him a banana for all the difference it made.
I think it's a function of the unequal relationship between the prevalence of US culture (everyone in the UK watches US films and US TV shows) and that of British culture that most young Brits are well aware of US slang while their American counterparts are blissfully unaware of British dialect words. So don't go round Britain insulting people in American slang, guys and gals. The Brits will understand all of it. You have been warned.
Norm :)
PS: We had Sinclair ZX80s when I was in high school. We were allowed to take them home at the weekend and attach them to the TV. They were ... utter crap, but I wish I'd seen the potential, because I would have got into computers a lot earlier if I had.

My first 'computer' was a Commodore 64 with a tape drive....the cassette tapes ;)
I remember coding BASIC programs on it that animated ASCII pictures. Like a 200 line program to make a little ASCII guy doing jumping jacks haha.
My favorite game on it was this one where you flew around a helecopter and rescued these people that ran around, but it was even more fun to skim the helecopter across the ground and make the people explode! ;) I don't remember the name of it anymore though.

Come on now guys and gals. Let's not start an argument over who had the worst computer ;)
Me, my first was a BBC Micro 32K. Ahhh, those days of Repton.
Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can get a copy of Repton for the PC, via an emulator or otherwise.
I loved that game...

that was easy but then again my professor for computer org was all into old equipment and I had a test for that class that was similar to this except we also had to know the specs on the machines.

Weird. I imagine I got "Incorrect!" about 50% of the time, and then it tells me "You identified all of the computers correctly! Why aren't you a billionaire yet?"
I think I can answer that one ... for me and them both.... :D :D
