What does this have to do with PHP, much less computers in general?

I just find it sad that he 1) Doesn't know the definition of characteristics, and 2) Doesn't realize he can go get a dictionary instead of posting on a PHP forum to find out.

I think this just illustrates how much the school system is going while ($president == dumb@ss()) { $schoolSystem--; }

(edit: semi colon :P)

The current topic of the thread has nothing to do with the thread title :D

Maybe "characteristics" has a specialised meaning in this context, the way "dump" has in databasing.

If that's so, I guess you could take a business studies class to find out what it is.

hehe he said dump :D

// Geez I can be so immature sometimes, but for some reasn, that actually made me smile. Maybe it's cos I'm bored...

Something tells me that Forcer is not who (s)he claims to be. Didn't wejust recently have a post from someone who turned out to be Mercer, saying that he couldn't be bothered searching for an answer and could we just tell him the answer.

Come on, Forcer, who are you? You can't possibly be in higher education and not know the word 'characteristics'.

We all work for an organization, if not our own, right? Methinks that discussing business matters here, as well as programming, would do good for everyone.

Well I guess some of the "characteristics" of an organisation would include its name, Inland Revenue number and whether it can offer a decent cup of coffee?

I do schoolwork in a highschool...not much of an organisation, is it now? :D Well I guess it sort of is. But anyway, I think jstarkey has a very valid point. Even if people don't post in a certain thread, they learn a lot just by reading it.

thanx Go *off* --- we do that real well here. Prolly too late to help in class, unless you pulled a doctor's note, but heck ...

MICROSOFT:
characteristics: Big; Agressive Marketing; Multi-faceted; jive-talking; anti-innovative.

IBM:
characteristics: historic; archtypal; solid; reactionary.

APPLE:
characteristics: elitist; flexible; underdogged.

Hmmm, I thought characteristics of orgs would be more like:

* is a group of people
* shares a common goal
* contains a chain of command
* etc.

I guess that would be more like the elements .I'm so confused. :(

I've taken Business Studies, heck I majored in Organizational Behavior... but the question is too general. We need some kind of context... are you talking about organizational characteristics (such as corporation vs. sole proprietorship vs. limited partnership and the number of employees and offices), or are you talking about sales and marketing characteristics (such as competitive niche, target market, etc), or are you talking about financial characteristics (annual revenues, stock offerings, D&B info, etc.). There are many different areas which you could expand on- what sort of "characteristics" are you looking for?

Hey, yah ... forgot about Elizabeth's pre-coding training. When you are done with the lecture, dearest Prof, why don't you give us your observations of the organizational characteristics of the EL?

:D :D
