I just installed W2K Server and IIS 5.0
WHich kind of php installation should I do? The zipped package one or the windows installer?
Which one is better and what are the disadvantages of each?
Thanks

I've always just used the zip package for Windoze. I don't think there's any real difference, except that the installer fills in the info to your conf files for you, and moves the files to the proper place. Either shouldn't be hard to do.

Nope, I dunno anything bout those. I only use Apache, and don't really deal with Windoze servers too much. Sorry...

Well between Apache and IIS, which one would you choose? Ive read some reviews and they all say IIS has more features and is easier to use/configure... I know Apache is more secure.. but which one?
Thanks

Personally, I use Apache. Regardless of OS

da lord is right.

Apache esp 2 is far easier to tailor, the learning curve is n't as difficult as IIS 5. and it will fit if other open source project like a glove. IIS 5 is obvisiously windoze biased, thus requires more experience to use properly, viruses and hacks etc, geting the picture, apache will go through more upgrades because peopple like us look out for it.

my last point is that learning apache php/perl mysql under windoze, will enable u to transfer yr newly learnt skills to other platforms. IIS 5 is only applicable to WINdozes.
:p keep it open, y'all
