Help, Need Login Code

Hello,

I am trying to set up a login / password registration page that verifies from data base. Am fairly new to the programing end of this. I know how to put in the form and text boxes just not sure how to get it to perform function. Could you please help? Am using Dreamweaver 4 not Ultra.
