Bored, bored, bored!!
Ok people, you can see what the mods look like here (http://www.phpbuilder.com/board/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=23), but I like to know what people look like when I spend ages talking to them!
So post links to your photos please.

Probably about 4 years old now. I've lost the mohawks, the septum piercing and aren't (quite ;) ) so bleary eyed any more.
Will try to find a newer one.

Roight; ye day is ye Septembre nointeeth. So, a plan. Now, this here be a plan to be enacted when th' time is roight, so we'll have none of ye scurvy rats startin' th' mutiny before it's toime!!
1. We all include pirate language in our posts.
2. We all include pirate language in our signatures and other personal information.
3. We put eyepatches on our avatars, if applicable.
4. Definitely a big thread in the EL.
5. Virtual Rum.
6. Not sure what to do with she-Geeks. Either they join us, or .... <yarr!>
7. Lastly, our ship must capture a prize on the Internet. I was thinking maybe this site's CSS files? Maybe a cute South Seas logo, and change everything to wood tones for a day?
:D :D

We need to come up with a standard start and finish toime (i.e. 00:00 GMT - 23:59 GMT) so that people don't get confuused as to when it should starrrt

It's a bit early to start planning isn't it Talk Like A Pirate Day (http://www.talklikeapirate.com/) 19th Sept.
Actually I suppose we have to get the provissions if we're going to carry this through authentically. Lets start with a galleon (http://www.oldtimer.ndirect.co.uk/html/misc%20folder/ship.html) (not sure if we'll all fit), who's buying the livestock?

Bubble *buying* livestock? Why, me boy, I look out the winder of the chicken house, and the fields are ripe unto th' harvest, matey! And, what's more, the owners are more'n half mile away. If we be intendin' to act like pirates, I say we take 'em.
And, yarr, it's a bit early, but I figure that a plan that's only 9 months early is OK. Otherwise, it's not a plan. Now, I'm a consultant by title, but a hacker by nature, so it's really a self-help measure, isn't it?? ;)

And, aye, bubblenut, that's a beautiful ship, but at 1.25m a tad small for even one of us, I'd think.
Seein' as we'll be bein' modern pirates, how about this one? (http://ships-for-sale.com/aircraft_carrier.htm) :D :D
Methinks we'll need a lot of venture capitalists, and maybe even have to start pirating at a few banks previous to the big day.... :D :D

"So we each agreed that we would allow the other to have an affair with one other person. I picked Cindy Crawford and she picked Alec Baldwin. A year later, I said 'let's review our choices'. She picked Brad Pitt, and I picked our babysitter, and I won and she can't accept that!"
dalecosp

Exactly; that's what I'd be afraid of. One of us would pick five Hollywood types; the other would be five fairly good looking folks we both knew.
Elizabeth
01-08-2004, 07:18 PM
Ok, for the record- a few rules with the top 5 list:
1) It has to be a famous person, not a peon.
2) Your S.O. agrees that if the situation ever arose where the list member came up to you and said "Marry me!" the spouse would have to, as I said earlier, gracefully acquiesce. Same holds true for a brief "encounter" if you know what I mean nudge nudge.
piersk
01-08-2004, 07:25 PM
But since the chances of you meeting any of the people on that list (perhaps with the exception of BuzzLy) is slim to none, isn't that ok?

My wife and I were actually talking about this, and other medical reasons for being "inactive"... and how it's great that Wifi exists now, so people restricted to beds/rest can have something more to do than read/watch tv. :D

Then you hatch and the vaca begins!

Well, being only 22, I haven't even got married, let alone spawned any likenesses, so I wouldn't exactly know anything about it.

It broke at midnight and we drove to the hospital at that time!

I think it also depends on the situation.. my sister-in-law quit her job the day she found out she was pregnant; unfortunately some of us can't afford to do that :). I've had easy-breezy pregnancies though so it's really no biggie for me. (and yeah, Stolzy- that is a big fear of mine- that my water will break out in public somewhere, like the grocery store or something LOL)
What was the original topic of this thread again? Oh yes, photos! :)

LOL.. yeah yeah I know about that digital camera setting thing, just one of those things we haven't messed with yet :) My doctor had told me if I made it til Saturday (the 31st) she'd be surprised, and yet HERE I AM STILL AT WORK! :p Due date wasn't until the 12th tho...
I'm hoping he'll come today, so I have an easy birthdate to remember (02/02/04) - my other was born on 06/06/00 ... as spazzy as I am that's the only way I can remember stuff, ha ha.

Wot wot? PiersK confused again.
American datism: MM/DD/YY
European datism: DD/MM/YY
Is that the issue? Nope, any day now; no way that the doctor will let her go another month... often in the U.S. they send the ladies in for a c-section if they go 2-3 *days* past due. :(
I imagine we'll hear good news from Queen E in a week or so....

My old lady was going in a week after her due date, but well we didn't make it that far...she still had a c-section anyway, kinda hard on the moms, but much, much easier on the baby that way, they don't have to do thru the tunnel of death to see the light LOL

well I do a lot of admining too and a sh*tload of SQL, shells, etc.
It's just that it all revolves around projects using PHP :)

I'm mostly PHP (I'm including javascript and html in that), SQL, bash, a little java, and even less python and to top all that off I've just, today been given a 2K(decimal) pay rise and told that if there are any work related courses I'd like to do, even if they're not directly related with what I'm working on at the moment, they'd be happy to pay for them.
I've been smiling today, still am now and probably will be for while.

and remember, proper unit testing eliminates a lot of the headaches you get when testing the whole thing.
