Frankly, it's a fine convention for expressing a physical action; an alternative to graphic illustration, for example. If we did it Piersk's way, we'd all have to run for the digicam, wave with one hand while holding it with the other, upload the photo to webspace, etc., etc...... :D

I've seen other ways though. Doing it on IRC simply appends a *Username does something, so another way I've seen is just using *Does Something*

Recently you started a thread (I didn't mind the thread, I was just pointing it out and picking on you a lil' bit) of self-portraits, as it were; photographs of those of us trapped here in our daily existence (or whatever :D ) and so I chose to use it as an example. Nothing personal, I assure you.

FWIW, I always preferred the "<---" method of defining one's action, as in the olden days of the chat room.

I think it must be the grammatical incorrectness to using "/me does something" that bugs me a little. But hey, whatever. I'm easy.

There shouldn't be any gramatical problems, cos usually if you put (for example):

/me waves

then the IRC program changes it to:

piersk waves

doesn't it?

It may look funny on here tho...

I know in YABBSE there is a bit of code, so if you typed:

waves

it would change it to:

*Piers waves

Gramatically correct but a little long winded prehapse.
