LordShryku 03-23-2004, 10:17 AM Think he means this... Do not use Apache 2.0 and PHP in a production environment neither on Unix nor on Windows. pyro 03-23-2004, 10:22 AM That's because as of PHP 4.3.4, PHP's support for Apache 2 was experimental. Edit: Just checked - as of the PHP 5 release candidate 1, it is still experimental... rebelo 03-23-2004, 05:24 PM Humbug, I say. I run apache 2.0.49 and php 4.3.3 and it's excellent. Granted, the server only runs my own website on it so it's not situation critical, but I've never had a problem with it. And apache 2 configuration rocks. I installed apache 2 on my computer with php 4 and tried for some time to get it to work to no avail. I asked on a forums and they said that many people were having the same problem... rebelo 03-26-2004, 01:49 AM On linux? swr 03-26-2004, 06:58 AM As I understand it, the problem is not with PHP itself, as with some of the modules. If you aren't using one of the non-threadsafe modules you (probably) won't have a problem. I don't know which modules are thread safe and which aren't. It's not something you can test easily either; if something is not thread-safe it may _seem_ to work fine but then fail randomly under load. AdamBrill 03-26-2004, 09:02 AM Originally posted by rebelo On linux? No, on Windows XP. I uninstalled Apache 2 and put on Apache 1.3 and it works like a charm. planetsim 03-26-2004, 09:44 AM Hmm.. Im running Apache 2.0.48 quite fine on WinXP. Merve 03-26-2004, 07:32 PM I'm a cheapass; I simply installed the Xampp package; Apache 2.037 and PHP 4.3.4 --- works fine... PHP Builder
