I've been developing PHP for 4 Years. a self taught Programmer with my only language being PHP recently I acquired a decent account to develop there site I have taken it as far as I can so I request to them to hire a larger company to over view the and make any suggestions. well they did the suggested to move the site to a .NET platform. They said that the code was written good for handling the entire site alone but it would be a better project under a .NET platform.
For big projects which would be better is PHP capable of handle the capacity like a .NET or should they really consider a re-write

NEW!!!

I've been developing PHP for 4 Years. I am a self taught Programmer. My only language is PHP. Recently, I aquired a decent prospect to develop their site. For big projects, which would be better? Is PHP capable of handling the capacity like a .NET, or should they really consider a re-write?

Either you guys get tons of post with this question or you guys don't take PHP serious. I like PHP and If I provide Help I give Help not a sarcastic remark. Well I guess There no help here thanks

One of the key things in languages is getting the language right. Over time, you build up an anger for things written incorrectly. It was more of a joke than anything else.

I'm sorry. This is not meant to offend but

LMAO!!!

Come on!! If we didn't take PHP seriously, why would this forum have even lasted for well over 1.5 yrs in its current state (not sure how long Tim was running the site before hand).

Seriously, you were right the first time. As commented on by Weedpacket, this question gets asked (in one form or another) a lot.

Sorry for jumping, its hard form my point of you to see where you should go in a job. To get the advise from your peers and get joked at. it makes you feel like Freakit (PHP) I been on PHPbuilders for years (when tim was just a little boy). It here I learned. I like this place so no hard feeling I guess we all vent in our own way. but remember I think if we want other to take PHP serious and I can come back and show my client what other think of the difference. If I did that with this post I surly lose the site to ASP:D

Well Guys Thanks for the links I'll Do my Homework

To be honest, you choose the tools that you think would do the job best.

My job is as an ASP coder rather than PHP, and there are definately things I think can be done better in ASP and there are some things I can do better in PHP, so it really depends on what you want to do.

Those who hold the banner of Lerdorf shall bathe in the light of heaven, and rain fire and brimstone onto the heathens in the hell of Gates.

asp.net does some things rather well actually :)

That reminds me of:
And so at last the beast fell and the unbelievers rejoiced. But all was not lost, for from the ash rose a great bird. The bird gazed down upon the unbelievers and cast fire and thunder upon them. For the beast had been reborn with its strength renewed, and the followers of Mammon cowered in horror.
