lucent win modem

hi,

has anyone tried setting up a lucent win modem on red hat 9? I've spent 2 days at it and still cant get it working?

any help from somebody who had done this would be much appreciated..

I got p****d off and got a serial moden as it just proved a hassle. Here's the place to checkout though http://www.linmodems.org/

I installed the rpm but cant get it to show the port when i set up an internet connection.

I've run the scanmodem script. That works fine and says the modem (lucent DSL chipset modem - mars 2) is supported.

I've tried following all the guides i could find on the net but i dont really understand them as i am new to linux.

Any idea's
