Hi all

I've had Linux for a few months now and I'm beginning to understand why Linux people are so into Lord of the Rings. I mean, BASH is kind of like navigating towards Mordor. You have to use incomprehensible runes and magic sayings to open gates and ward off evil spirits. Depending on what day of the week it is and whether you are carrying elfen charms with you, the runes can mean different things.

If Tolkien had lived a bit longer, he'd have installed Linux.

umount -t ext2 /dev/balrog1 /middleearth/eternal0

Oh, I wish I was back in the Shire!

Norm

Weta Digital (who basically had a hand in every single frame of the three LOTR movies) did the job on a cluster of 200 Linux servers.

Bah! EXT2? Everyone knows that hobbits use a journaled filesystem, like ext3 or reiserfs :D

Besides, if you're not the superuser, you'll likely get "operation not permitted".... ;)

... and you've got to overcome hordes of orcs, I mean ops, to ascend to the throne...
