I dont think you can. He may have missed a penalty, but thats mainly because the penalty spot was in a bad condition.

The only person you can blame is the referee.

After Portugal missed their penalty and the scores were level, the referee should have said "Shall we swap ends?". It was his responsibility and he didnt do anything.

Also Englands disallowed goal should have counted.

By the way, i am unbiased.

Oh and also, after the england goal was disallowed the referee should have stopped play.

A free kick was given, but the england players didnt know the goal didnt count, so they werent ready.

The referee should have stopped play until England knew what was happening.

Sorry folks, but England did not win this game. Portugal did. They deserve credit and I hope they can go on to win the whole thing.

Its a pitty every english person (pommy) ive talked to online all complained about that disallowed goal. The ref didnt have to say anything he blew the whistle did what was required and Portugal put the ball down and went.

I say for any english person moaning about the disallowed goal or the pitch (which i thought was in great condition compared to Australia's pitches atm) should get over it. And not be such bad loosers. :glare:

Anyway congrats the Portugal well deserved after attackin the entire night.

Well, firstly, australia are not hosts to one of the worlds biggest football competitions. Portugal won the rights to host the competition, and part of their responsibility is to ensure the pitch is in good condition.

Secondly, after defeating Switzerland they then put a swiss referee in charge of the game. They should have picked an italian, american, australian, brazilian - anyone else that was not directly involved in the competition - surely this is common sense.

Thirdly, the referee was standing 30 yards away when he gave the decision. No one can say that the goal should have been dissallowed. The goal was fairly won, and a bad decision was made, following many previous to that.

At the end of the day, the decisions were made, and Portugal (who did deserve to win) did win. Thats football at the end of the day.

But i agree with the people who say to bring in a video referee, who can then overull decisions if needed.

Sorry to be sounding critical but i believe sweden are still in the tournament

But yes that is football. Just remember as well its the refs call and makes a decision from what he sees. Not what the fans want

Yes i know you didnt however i was showing you that a swedish ref'ed the french v greece game and i do not hear the french complaining about having a ref that had a country still in the tournament.

He was getting at the fact that we had just beat switzerland a few days back and knocked them out, which is why there was a possibility that he was biased.
