Was just reading through some old threads and saw one where I had made a comment about how it 'Would be nice if there was an intermediary page...'. Thought about it, and figured it really was something worth suggesting.
If possible, I personally think you should add a quick page that will offer a direct link to the forum's search engine before posting. Might work something like this...
- User Abcd clicks on 'New Thread'
- 'New Thread' page loads up a 10 second refresh with a small blurb of text asking them to make sure they search the forums first, and gives them a link to the search page.
- A link to continue anyways is also on the page.
- If 10 seconds pass, or Abcd clicks on 'Continue', they are taken to a form to submit a new post.
- A non-advertised option could be placed into the UserCP to allow users the option of disabling the page.
