Hey, I am trying to create a SMTP mail server... does anyone know any free software (that supports windows) to do this? All I have found is ones that require registration. I am not picky on this as long as I can just send simple text based emails.
Thanks

If you want good, free MTA software, you'll likely have to learn BSD Unix or Linux.
Do you just need a simple email sender to toss email to a real server upstream somewhere, or do you need something in the same class as sendmail or exhange?

If I had a simple email sender that sent it to another server would it look like it came from my site or would it look like it came from the other site? And I would switch to another os except that the internet I have requires you to log in with a program that can only be run on windows...
Postfix on Linux. Amazing performance.

The mail server I currently use is PostCast and is commercial now :(
The version I have though is an early version that was available freely to download before they went commercial ;)
Do a search on Google for 'PostCast' for the URL, there is a trial version and the software isn't too expensive btw.
