I'm wondering if anyone knows a good free php host w/ no ads.
I'v tried a few, but there down 50% of the time. I run a non-profit car club that does not want to pay for webspace.
thnx,

Oh well, you get what you pay for, I suppose....

I realize that, I was just wondering if anyone knows of a good free host. Nothing wrong with asking.

In all honesty you would be better off paying. Free hosts tend to be slow as...slow.

It's just that you're not the first to ask - as a search would have been quick to indicate, oddly enough.

And that was on the first page of search results. I didn't bother with subsequent pages, or looking to see exactly what packages were offered or their status with regard to advertising; since I'm not the one looking for free PHP hosting and nor am I contracted to do so, I decided instead to go back to something that I would find productive, and let those who would benefit to pick up from where I left off.
So yes, there is harm in asking, when it's a question that's been asked fifty-odd times before by people who don't realise that all those previous dozens of answers are there for the reading. It makes me grumpy. And when I get grumpy other people eventually start getting grumpy, too.

Don't make me grumpy. You wouldn't like me when I'm grumpy.

Quick Weed what's the square root of absolute pi.
There that should keep him busy while we find a way to make him happy again.

command prompt inc, one of the companies that supports postgresql provices free hosting to free / open source projects that use PHP and postgresql.
What do you need free hosting for? If it's for a FOSS type project, you can probably find a sponsor out there to host it.
I host my own presence on the web using dynamic dns and a DSL line. It ain't fast, but I know it's up to date, and if it goes down in the middle of the night, I know exactly who to call :)

Maybe he has a Rube Goldberg machine that dumps ice cold water on his head after the squirel watching the connection goes nuts and starts running on its wheel to pull the string connected to the bucket.

But that involves the effort of training the squirrel to watch the connection. Unless you wired some electrodes to said squirrel and then when the connection was dropped pass current through aforementioned electrodes which would make the squirrel run etc etc

What about a host that cost $200 for lifetime of service (probably 6 years at least) plus additional costs if bandwidth and space go haywire.
With all the features, 24 hour support, bells and whistles including CVS stuff, and a plan to support the new programming things in a very active way.

why not just use a true low budget host something liek 3.00 a month there are a ton out there right now and they will eb better the the free ones and give you a start.
$200 lifetime service that includes 24/7 support? They'll probably throw in a bridge and ocean-front property in Arizona too.
