php installation

i want to download php to install it on my XP Pro system, which i already have IIS up and running.

now when i go to the php.net web site, there is the zip package and the installer versions ... which one shall i download, because the installer version seems easier since it automatically configures the web server ?

moreover which version do you recommend to download PHP 4 or 5 ?

The zip you'll need to do quite a bit to get it working, the binary will install automatically except a few minor IIS issues if thats what you are using as a webserver.

Since most hosts still use PHP 4 Id recommend PHP 4, as I doubt you will be using OOP for sometime, unless you have experiences in other languages than you may want PHP 5.
