I have a bootable CD for Mandrake, and like using it. However, my computer has a 1024 x 768 screen, and the bootable CD - which is the latest version - only goes up to 800 x 600.

Naturally, this is not good for using. Now, I know the full Mandrake, if you install it on the HD, goes way up there - in fact, I don't know what the highest resolution is. However, I want to know if this is something that is normal or is my bootable CD acting up on me...

I assume this is a live cd? Boot from it and run the apps...

They are probably using a generic vesa driver for your video card instead of the card specific one. So for it to work on *everyones* hardware, they limit it to 800x600x16bpp or whatever. Do you have the option of reconfiguring X and using a stored config file on floppy or something? That or a "real" install would probably be the only thing to do to fix it...
