I have windows 2003 and need 5 users to connect via remote desktop.
I think I have the server in Remote Administration mode which only allows two users to connect.
I have 5 CALs installed, but only two users can connect.
How do I get it out of remote Adminstration mode, and into regular terminal services mode?
On the Terminal Service Manage, Licensing type is set to "Remote Desktop for Administration, but I have no other options.
What to do?

I found this article which applies to me.
Ok, so how do I let more than two people access the server using remote desktop at the same time?

You cannot have more than two users connected to remote desktop with win2000/2003 What you are wanting to do is connect to the computer using terminal services. Which is different to remote administration.
I assume you are wanting to share applications to users via the one computer or something similar ?

Yes, I want to share and application.
remote desktop is part of terminal services isn't it?
I just need to get terminal services in application mode, which is not available on windows 2003.

The remotes desktop feature of win 2003 utilise the RDP but is not the same as connecting to a win 2003 server via a thin client such as a wyse terminal using rdp not ica protocol.
I have a RnD network that has a win 2003 server in application mode and can connect mulitpule session (or as many CALS supplied) using wyse 1200 les 3250
Hope this helps

I have 10 CALS, but it will not let me put it in application mode. I can only do it in administration mode. I have looked all over the net and it says that w2k3 cannot be put in application mode.
It's Small Business Edition if that makes a difference. Any suggestions?
Can I get multiple xp machines to connect via a different program besides remote desktop that will still allow them to have their own desktop? NOT VNC.

Did you mean "using ica not rdp protocol"?

depending on your budget I would suggest an application such as citirix. In my last role we have 1200 pcs and thin terminals connecting to a farm of citirix server running win 2003.
You can "publish" applications via an ICA session which will run in a seemless window. Is a very sweet app and works with unix, sun, linx, win 98 200 2003 xp and mac form os 8 to panther
