Isn't it nice when people follow the rules of the board?

I just love these people that have great ideas yet cannot do it themselves and then state we have a 50/50 share. I guess its 50 / 50 effort too, or is one half the idea and one half the person that does the work?

I was in Seattle for the pre-dot-com thing and the stories that I heard.

A friend of mine worked for a very good software dev company and some guy calls them up one day and says I have a geat idea. Will you build and I'll share the profits with you.

Ummm, no...you need to pay use to develop the products.

But you don't understand, this will make millions.

* click - hangs up phone *

Well, the guy showed up at the offices a few times first of all trying to talk to them and then later showing up completely insane and disgruntled even threatening them with lawsuits since they wouldn't deal with him.

Whatever...

Firstly, you're lying, a mod didn't move your thread here. I can say this with such conviction because your post is quite obviously against the rules of this board.

Secondly, I you've been involved with the web for so long and farthered so many great ideas why haven't you made acquaintance with any programmers along the way? Also, why haven't you also discovered that it is far prefereable to go through an employment agency?

I apologize. you are right, the post was not moved on this board it was on another. Wow, lyer is a strong word. Why would I go through an employment agency when there are so many great programmers on these boards? To answer the question about how come I have not made contact in the past? I am making contact now. Why the grilling? I guess this is not the place for me. Thanks. Why cant you just get in touch with me instead of making sarcastic remarks. It is much more productive to just talk about what can be, rather than this.

You need to understand the "community" aspect of boards like this though. There are tons of programmers here, and while we have no problem (and even enjoy) working with each other on projects (http://phpbuilder.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10290143), someone new coming in here and just saying "build this! make money!" is not going to be welcomed. Now had you been here for a while, gotten to know people, showed some interest in the "community", well you may have had better results. But if all you want is some random programmer to build something for you, post it out on some programmer headhunter sites. You'd find some links if you searched the forums here.

LordShryku, your reply was understood and very well written. I will do just that. I can see how it may look with me coming in on my first post and asking for a partner. I just have a very aggressive style. Like I said in an earlier post. Everyone has their "green light" yours seams to be communicating well. Thanks.

Also, it was hinted at, but never flat out said, the company that hosts this site doesn't do it as part of their business, it is just something they offer to the PHP community, and it is in many peoples opinions the best PHP forums out there. The only stipulation with them using their private resources to run this site is that there be no job postings, and the moderators here have to ensure that this remains the case.

Had you sat and spectated at these forums for awhile, you would see that there are sometimes many many of these job postings where people make no attempt to read, or understand the rules of this community... Obviously at some point it gets to be a nuisance and they get tired of handling it in the polite manner that often seems to bring absolutely no results for their time in trying to correct the problem....

The response you received... is unfortunately the type of response that usually gets the infringing party's attention, and gets the point across. Is this the best way? Probably not... but sometimes effectiveness out weighs correctness. One thing I can tell you, is that nobody here will hold this against you if you were to stay here and become an active member of the community. We do believe that once people realise how things work around here, they can become very productive people here, no matter how rocky their initial start here was (a few very rare exceptions can always be found to this rule though).

With that being said, I hope you do hang around abit, even if you do not make any more posts for awhile, just to get the feel for the group, and what we really do have to offer as a collective.

Resistance is futile... You will be assimilated! J/k :p

Well, I am working on my communication skills... I need the practice ;) hehe

Seriously though, I speak my mind, and I tend to be told I have a way with words, and people. When I worked in an office back in the day, our customers loved talking to me on the phone or in person, and the employees that worked under me, never had a problem working for someone younger than them either.... I miss that design team :(
