I've installed Apache/CGI/Perl on Windows.
I've a question: can CGI/Perl run using IIS instead ?

Also, I can rename .pl as .cgi or vice-versa; what exactly is CGI or what is the ( exact ) difference b/w CGI and Perl ? Can we use PHP as a CGI ?

If CGI is faster than PHP, we may write CGI for local search feature of our Web site ( Perl regular expressions  ); how can CGI access file-systems and database, then ? Any tutorials, links ?

Pleae discuss here.
(though, this is not a Windows OS question strictly ! )

ActivePerl will install all you need for cgi/perl on IIS.
