Hello.

We are currently looking at purchasing another switch (around 24-port) to support a corporate network (linking Cisco routers, FreeBSD servers and various other hardware).

At the moment, we're using a HP 2124 unmanaged switch, and would be happy to spend around £150 GBP (around 270 US dollars) on another backup switch.

If you have any suggestions for decent 24port unmanaged switches that are renowned for being reliable and generally good - please let me know.
Near silent would be good too, the HP 2124 is unbeliveably loud!!!

We would be looking at buying brand new, not used.

My searching is yielding so many response that I thought I'd ask where there would be people who have actual experience with it.

Our particular emphasis is on the reliability and quality factor. Any advice would be really greatly appreciated!!!

Many thanks.
Regards,

Hiya,

Okay, here's a new list...

Which would you pick and why? Or would you not use any of these (product or brand)?

One important note in relation to the Netgear one - we don't need Gigabit but this seemed like a decent switch. Is it only expensive because it's gigabit and therefore no further 'reliability or quality'?

Many, many thanks. Let's hope I leave you all alone today and get purchasing, hehehe!

All sorted now.

We're going to keep our 2124 HP as the backup (which we already have) and we have just purchased a 3com ( http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Product+Details.htm?quicklinx=22Z2&searchphrase=3com%20superstack%203 )

thanks again.
