...made the "[Resolved]" script? Did someone around here do that, or is that an "addon" put out by vBulletin?

If it's an in-house programmer... couldn't they have made it so you can only click the link once? If '[Resolved]' is in the topic title, the link would do nothing, etc.

Just curious.

Another feature that I think would be useful related to the "Resolved" link...

Next to the "Resolved" link I think there should be a 'Suggest as Resolved' that any logged-in user could click and the number of times that this link has been clicked could somehow be indicated on the index page for that forum next to the thread title. That way, there is a way for those surfing the board to see which threads are clearly resolved even if the user doesn't bother to go back and click "Resolved" themselves. This would also help when searching the board--i.e. it would be apparent which problems were finally resolved.

I'm sure this has happened to most of us...you've read through a long series of replies to the thread only to see the last message be something like "Thanks, all fixed now :)" but no [Resolved] in the title. (Sometimes there is even a response from a more veteran board surfer asking them to mark the thread resolved, which of course they never do).

Just a thought.

EDIT: There may some mischevious board trolls who click "Suggest as Resolved" for every message, just to be difficult. I think this can be mitigated by not posting the number of clicks on the "Suggest.." link until some minimum threshold is passed (say 5 unique users, e.g.)

I like! :)

Also, you could combine that with the requirement that they must have posted at least once in that specific thread. If they start registering multiple accounts, or get friends to return fake resolved results, they would have had to have posted in that thread, giving the board mod's their IP on a sliver platter.

As to who made it jstarkey Im pretty sure was the one, well anyway hes the one doing most of the mods on the forum. Also I think it was a very quick and very dirty hack no time to really add special things to it, also the suggest as resolve if I remember correctly came up the sametime this idea came up, but I think thats all that happen.

At the moment im pretty sure first on the agenda for this forum is the forum itself to upgrade to v3 and while that happens add the hacks back in, im sure that wouldnt be an easy task.
