GoDaddy's got a pretty good one for $4.95 per month. aaron_karp 11-02-2005, 01:12 AM Try brinker. They often have random "educational" stuff EDIT: Brinkster, that is Rodney H. 11-02-2005, 02:58 AM www.tripod.lycos.co.uk/ = 50MB free space, PHP, MYSQL Downside = Popup ads and ads in a frame margin right. Gigabytes of capacity, loads of bandwidth, and no time limits. Oni 11-02-2005, 11:41 AM :D I used that host once... trap17.com is great and has tons of futures, free, no ads... The only thing, you must post for credits...But very very easy to get credits...Highly recommended ;) BuzzLY 11-02-2005, 11:52 AM Just remember, nothing is truly free. Pay a small fee, like at vervehosting.com, and you've got a decent environment. Otherwise, put up with some ads and popups. Your only other option is WP's suggestion, of course, and then you give up accessing your site over the internet. However, if you are simply wanting to test and learn, then creating your own server on your local box is an excellent idea, since it's completely free, ad-free, and you have 100% control over your server settings (which is essential if you truly want to learn all the ins and outs of PHP/MySQL/Apache). vaaaska 11-02-2005, 12:38 PM http://localhost/ offers a lot of freedom for practice and experimentation. Gigabytes of capacity, loads of bandwidth, and no time limits. I absolutely LOVE the ease of use on this one. However, from my experience the admin can be a total dumb crap and screw things up on occassion. If you are patient, they usually iron out the rough patches. BuzzLY 11-02-2005, 01:38 PM Yeah... plus, my admin is a lazy bastard that lounges around watching reality television instead of working on the host server. aaron_karp 11-03-2005, 12:05 AM my admin doesn't even understand what's going on most of the time...... piersk 11-03-2005, 04:09 AM Mine does. Mines a genius :D aaron_karp 11-03-2005, 04:21 AM Haha good, then I'll start contacting you on MSN for help. I heard that it's the best way to get in touch with you. Weedpacket 11-03-2005, 04:27 AM I'm not sure about mine - he seems to think the server's a place for him to store all his pr0n.... Elizabeth 11-03-2005, 11:43 PM Haha good, then I'll start contacting you on MSN for help. I heard that it's the best way to get in touch with you.HA! Really, Piers, what's the story with that anyway? Did you have a bad experience? :) piersk 11-04-2005, 03:37 AM Yeah, someone wouldn't leave me alone on MSN... kept asking me questions about PHP. I don't mind random people starting to talk to me, but I'd rather they kept it social... vaaaska 11-04-2005, 04:55 AM Plus, at http://www.eurodns.com/ you can get FREE .be domains (at least for the first year). No cc or anything needed...I just snapped up a bunch of stupid domains for future possible junk. Jason Batten 11-04-2005, 07:07 AM http://localhost/ offers a lot of freedom for practice and experimentation. Gigabytes of capacity, loads of bandwidth, and no time limits. What about advertising  it sounds too good to be true, like people using common sense and google :( PHP Builder
