We are currenlty involved in the work of a new CMS. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who know PHP but who are maybe looking for the experience required for that dream job. Because this CMS would be released free of charge we need volenteer developers. Its a great way to get experience for future jobs that are paid. If you would like to help please feel free to contact me gfxindia@gmail.com
A famous IT company has agreed to sponsor the CMS.

Thanks,
.Darkman

What's going to make this CMS better or so significantly different than somelike like Joomla that it'll be worth doing?

What kind of architecture will your system use, plugins, etc.

How does this relate to a dream job?

1)Joomla or Mambo has some big holes
But this new one can be made perfect.

2)I don't understand your second question.

3)When you work in this, you gain a lot of experience and when you have your name on the Dev team of the CMS, it is prestigious and you'll have many people queing to get their websites designed by you.

1) I think that you need to come up with some better points and ideas than 'this is going to be perfect'

2) Sounds like you got a great plan going for this new CMS....

3) I call B.S. Typical people looking to have a website done don't really know what a CMS is, and if they did I don't think they would google CMS and then try to contact the authors of one to have them design a site.

That might be a few people's opinion.
Why are phpBB SMF free ?
They get requests to make custom Forum scripts.

Are you just thinking of making a forum, or a full blown CMS? What's your role in this, are you a great coder, or a great co-ordinator, a marketing man?

I'm not trying to put my foot through this thing, but you've got to wow people if you want them dedicating hundreds of hours of work for free. You might end up drawing a load of newbie learners into it and you all learn a bit on the way, which is nice, but if you're looking for a product that's going to challenge the stuff out there that's already pretty damn good and has masses of 3rd party support you'll have to draw in people who already know what they're doing. These other people are already fixing their bugs and moving onto complete rewrites already (Joomla 1.5 on horizon), you'll have to write loads just to get to where they were 2 years ago.

Can you put something down on paper that'll make people want to invent a recipe for cake rather than eating the one already in the oven? Are you happy with the other option of a team of learn-as-you-goers, which can be great, but can also be hell.

How many people do you think you'll need on this team, and how will tasks be designated? Have you got any designers lined up. The people of the internet are fickle and even if you've got a body to die for they won't give a damn if your face looks like a smashed crab.

Wow me.

That's a huge list of questions.
I myself am a Designer, http://gfxindia.com/ I know good amount of php too.
Until now i've got 2 coders and one consultant. I'm planning to have new feayures in this which others don't have.
This would definitely be a great success.

1)Joomla or Mambo has some big holes

Why do people compare to those? There are already better ones to based ideas from...

3)When you work in this, you gain a lot of experience and when you have your name on the Dev team of the CMS, it is prestigious and you'll have many people queing to get their websites designed by you.

People from where? That you will direct to them?

I can speak from experience though that this is true. However, I suggest people write their own cms's so that the credit will go directly to them.

I am doing just this, Vaaaska, with a specific target audience in mind. It will be solid code, (with help from folks here, and my mentors), as well as unique, with applications in several, but specific, industries...

I know right now after several months work, that it won't be perfect. Far from it.

However, I am pretty certain that it will be very useful to some...
