I'm really tempted by Media Temple (http://www.mediatemple.net)'s grid hosting package, but I've been hearing quite a few bad things on webhosttalk. Does anyone on here use them?

Does anyone on here use them? stolzyboy 02-21-2007, 08:55 AM i've been to the site before, but i decided against it, and frankly, i can't recall why... i think someone else here posted a link to it or i just found it by perusing for a new host... sorry for the vague and uninformational answer :) piersk 02-21-2007, 08:57 AM I've posted a link for it under the "what host should i use" thread, but the seriousness of my thoughts about upgrading have been escalated stolzyboy 02-21-2007, 08:59 AM for what it's worth, you can pick pretty much ANY webhost and find a reviews site and you WILL find people with bad experience... now, is it the webhosts fault, the person running the server, the web developer, who knows... they had a bad experience and they feel it is the hosts fault stolzyboy 02-21-2007, 09:06 AM i do now recall reading their information, the gs (grid server) approach does seem to be a new/different way for hosting, tho i'm not real sure how i got turned off by them as it seems i would like it, maybe it was the control panel, typically places that have their own cp don't do the greatest, but some are good stolzyboy 02-21-2007, 09:10 AM i may have read this: http://hostingfu.com/article/media-temples-grid-server i seem to recall some of the user comments... but again, you'll get that with every host... piersk 02-21-2007, 09:35 AM Hmmm, a lot of the links from that post give for interesting reading. Seems it's not so much a grid system, more of a cluster of load balanced web servers possibly feeding through to one NFS. Can you say "bottleneck"? (although the hardware they use is pretty cool) stolzyboy 02-21-2007, 10:34 AM Can you say "bottleneck"?) i dunno... do you say it different in the UK? ;) bradgrafelman 02-23-2007, 10:49 AM i dunno... do you say it different in the UK? ;)More than likely, yes. :p piersk 02-23-2007, 10:57 AM Cheeky! Does anyone on here use them? It looks pretty good, and I knew someone who used it. They did not like it too much and they bought their own server insetead. But I think it is okay :). PHP Builder
