I'm the founder of a charity called Memories for Surviving Kids. Please check out our Web Site at http://www.mfsk.org . Our mission is to encourage friends and family of deceased parents to write letters for the surviving children. I would like to work with programmer(s) to co-develop a supporting tool on our Web Site. The tool would be interactive with the user being asked questions about their deceased friend or family member, and the result would be a letter for the children in pdf format that could be emailed or snail mailed to the surviving parent or guardian of the children. I know a bit about programming, but not quite enough to pull this off I don't think. I hope to make the tool fun and worthwhile, so please have a sense of humor along with your generous heart. Thank You.

Depending on how much help is extended I was thinking anywhere from a simple fill in the blank form to getting as entertaining as your skills would allow. I can picture prompting the user for a time frame when they knew the deceased parent and then using db tools to return popular movies, songs, and TV shows in that time frame and question whether the deceased had enjoyed those. I could see a portion of the tool behaving like a space invaders type scenario where personality traits would creep down the screen and the user would gather those that described the deceased in a basket. I just think it would be great if the tool was fun. The object being to generate as many letters as we can for the children that did not get to know their parent very well.

I understand that it's highly dependent on who provides how much time, but ambiguity is not your friend in this case. What do you expect the form to contain, if assistance is not the limiting factor? People who might want to help but are limited in their experience might be afraid that they'll get in over their head, when your requirements amount to is a simple form script.

You might get more offers to assist if people have a better idea of what your hoped-for system includes.

thanks,

Good Advice json. I have secured the help of someone that can hopefully provide me with the basics I need to create a simple form and the desired output. I would like to challenge the PHP Builder forum readers though to come up with interactive PHP blocks that could be added on (like the popularity database and space invader type tools) that could create output that could be added on to the pdf output created by the initial form. So ideally, any forum reader could create an add-on utility that could be included in our base PHP program. The objective of the add-on would be to pull information from people that knew a deceased parent, and output something that can be passed to the survivng children in pdf format. If that is still a bit unclear ... sorry.

EDITED!

Sorry.

I realized that I was really trying to push a CMS project on you, and had a hidden agenda. My bad.

Good luck in trying to find somebody to help you. I wish I had the time to do so now, but promised my ex-wife a site for her organization too, too long ago, and need to get cracking on that.

Again, my apologies.

Peace.
