I don't really understand how these work. However, to own a domain what details do you need to have about it?
Or rather, if you are transferring a domain name from A to B what details do you need to get from company A?

I think there is some code (like the PAC number you need if you want to transfer a phone number between mobile phone operators) that you need.

Yeah, it is commonly known as an authorisation code or EPP code. You may also need to get the domain name unlocked for transfer, but the procedure varies as the registrar/reseller.

Typically you need nothing from Company A as long as you own the domain... you pay Company B's transfer fee, provide all the information they need, and so long as your arent within ~60 days of domain expiry/renewal time the transfer typically goes off without a hitch... if you are within the 60 days, registrars can lock the domain which means you have to contact them in order to do a nything and typically they will say you cant transfer it during that time, so you have to renew it THEN transfer it... (of course that could just be the crap registrars my coworkers used at the time...)
As for owning a domain, you have to be the person listed in its Contact fields as Technical Administrator or Owner in order to make any changes to them...

You do need the EPP code from Co. A. After that, everything is handled at Co. B's end.
thanks,
