can any one point me in the right direction of how to setup a payment system so that people can use my wireless connection? gareth

First, you need to find a way to make sure that only some people can use your wireless connection but not everyone. Presumably, this can be done with a password or something.

Second, Install it. This way, nobody can use your wireless without a password.

Third. Decide how you will accept money. Cash? Check? Credit Card? Pay Pal?

Fourth, Decide how people will register for your service. Do they hit a web page? Do they come up to the counter in your store? The registration desk at your hotel? Whichever one you choose should be able to accept payment and distribute passwords to your wireless network. For help setting up a web based credit card authorization and password distributing web site, you will need to hire someone who has some experience.

I suggest using No Cat. My dept at uni used this and it was awesome. Have a look at NoCatAuth. It should (although I haven't looked at it) be possible to tie this in with paypal or something similar.
