the best wobhost and support will be yourself , by experience they promise a lot but their service is just as bad as calling a janitor to fix a server issue, you always have to make tickets because thier :support" are just for email issues , the rest are sleeping at their house.

dont ask a burger king employee to make a well done burger , may be you will find that he dont even know what a burger is made off or how to make it,

No such thing as a complete free lunch, you may be able to grab a few bites, but if you want the whole meal, you may need to put up a "Will work for food" sign. Good luck on your quest...

As PHPonCrack stated, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Eventually, somewhere, someone has to pay for what you use (and usually it's you paying by having ads on your site).

I don't know of any free hosts, as a free host offers you little flexibility to your site. A "cheaper" solution is to find an overselling host. Someone like Servage.net or hostgator.com or hostrocket.com are pretty good shared hosting providers. I know they all have crontabs and some sort of control panel that you can use.

I do know that many free hosts that are truly free, don't offer MySQL because many consider it a "premium" feature and because it usually means you have a "popular" or "large" site (since many many personal sites are just photo galleries and blogs which don't have to have database backends), so you'd be willing to pay for space.

I just started using awardspace.com a couple of days ago, which I came across thru one of PHP123456 posts. Anyway, their complete free hosting package, one of the included features is 1 MySQL database allowed, besides php, etc. No crontab, zip file is not an allowed format, but I found a way around the zip file thing, ftp timeout in 60 seconds.

I ran across this today and was surprised to see support for MySQL as one of the features, especially for 5 databases. 250MB Space, 6gb of transfer, FTP Access, sendmail, and no ads... I have not signed up for this as I just use wampserver for learning purposes while I am deployed overseas, but it looks pretty professional and organized. Give it a go!
