I installed WAMP on Vista Home Basic and can't get it to recognize Localhost.
Vista Home Basic will NOT let you run IIS, so my question is, will it let me run the Wamp Apache or am I hosed?
If it does let me run WAMP, then I'll follow up with the localhost question separately.
Many thanks,
Steve

I have run WAMP on Vista Home without any problem in the past. (I don't think it was "Basic", but it wasn't "Pro" either, so something in between.) I'm running it just fine right now on my WinXP notebook.

Is your firewall accidentally blocking (http://www.petri.co.il/images/wamp10.jpg) some stuff that has to do with WAMP?
Also, try browsing through this thread (http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-vista/17387-wamp-not-working-vista.html). Maybe you'll find an answer there.

Thanks for your help, it kept me from giving up! I found the solution here: http://www.acwolf.com/2009/05/26/getting-apache-started-on-vista-when-port-80-is-blocked/
Vista Home Basic will NOT let you run an IIS server, but if you try to install one, it will block Apache from running. Gee thanks Microsoft!

It might block it by default, since "home" computers hardly ever run servers, but there's definitely a way to unblock it.
