Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Using Apache-module only php functions on Windows
Hi.
This is probably a stupid question, but is there any to set up PHP on Windows 98 so as to get access to functions that only work with the apache module version, eg. authorisation functions, virtual etc?
If anyone knows how I can do this I'd be very grateful.

Joe,
I am not sure if this will work, but there is apache for Win9X. Better yet, I found this installation on http://www.phpindex.com ( french php site ).
It conbines Apache, MySQL, php and phpMyAdmin.
The explanation on the page is in french:

How to install, in 30 seconds. Apache + Mysql + PHP + phpMyAdmin under windows 9X.

One thing... you might want to specify that your language is english in the php.ini.

Now even the PHP team don't release module version of PHP for Apache on Win32, but someone do. For more info, visit the link:

Many thanks for your help - unfortunately our production environment is still php3 so I think the answer is to live with the limitations of a slightly crippled development environment until we upgrade.
Apparently it is possible to get php3 working as a module using cygwin's 'unix for windows' porting stuff, but it seems like a lot of effort.
Cheers,
Joe
