Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : php4 on raq2?
I am looking for a manual on how to install php4 on a raq2. my provider couldn't help me and i couldn't find a hint in the cobalt knowledge base.
If somebody of you succeeded in installing php4 on a raq2, it would be great if you could share your knowledge with me.
Thanks in advance,
Martin
I've been using PHP4 in CGI form on a Raq 3 now for quite some time. I just used the install instructions that came with the source and found it pretty straightforward.
Check out zend.com. Search the forums. There is quite a bit of info. If you are familiar with make and configure (php is a bear to configure correctly for a beginner, believe me I know:), it is pretty much the same on any platform including MIPS/AMD(according to the posts there). I believe you are on the MIPS processor with a raq 2. If you are up to linux 2.2.x and glibc2.1 it should go smooth. You need to compile PHP on the box. static binaries will not work. If you are not up to these versions of linux you need to do some patching.
Check out zend...
I am not lucky enough to be working with Cobalts... Those little servers are pretty rad though. I know some people that work on them. I just came across the forum stuff while I was there.
thx,
Neil
Will,
thanks for your post.
on raq2, installation didn't work out just by following the install instructions.
Neil,
thanks for your post. didn't check zend yet and will do so now. hope i'll find the info i need.
I think I may have some similar experience with the straight forward instructions working, as I am trying to load PHP4 on my little Raq2.
The first compiler issue I've come across is that the system is missing a dependant program called "lex" so I am off to find it.
Just keep watching the errors on the compile and you will find what's missing. I compiled webalizer on Friday and that took about 4 dependant libraries to be loaded before it would compile. Now, off to find "lex"...
