Installing Mcrypt

I have got the Latest and most complete version of PHP4 from PHP.net - PHP 4.0.5 [4,590Kb] - 30 April 2001. I then tryed to used the crypt() function but it was not recognized. So I went back to PHP.net and then Downloaded The McryptPatch - libmcrypt-2.4.5-win32.zip from http://mcrypt.hellug.gr but i do not know how to make the two of them work together. Can Anyone Help?
